Road Trip: Ohio

2019 Road Trip Summary

This year's vacation brought us to Ohio. I had a Mensa event - called Mind Games - to attend in Wadsworth, OH, so we made a road trip out of attending the event. In continuing our visits to capitals, and since we were essentially passing through Harrisburg anyway, we hit that up, then eventually onto Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN, and Lansing, MI, to end in Wadsworth before our long drive straight home (we both had to work the next day). We were actually in SIX states this trip. In addition to Delaware, and the four capitols, we happened to pass through West Virginia briefly on Route 70. What is brief? How about approximately 15 miles worth of brief.

The weather was generally excellent.  We had a couple rain showers, but mostly when we were driving or sleeping.

Trip statistics:
- 9.5 days and 9 nights.
- 1,909 miles driven.
- Walked at least 91,198 steps each (though Steve walked about 5,297 more than Linda).
- 702* pictures and 3 videos taken.
- 20 meals eaten (and a couple snacks)
- 0 semi-exotic cars spotted.  Even with all the cities we visited and road miles driven... (and Corvettes and Porsches don't count [if you have an issue with this, let me know])
- About 10 police cars spotted on the roadways (most were in Ohio).
- Less than 50% of drivers used their turn signals.  Seriously.  It is a given that in Florida, supposedly there is a law that it isn't required, but in all the other states?  It was ridiculous.

*702 was the final count of pictures from the memory card that was downloaded to the laptop.  But there were multiple places we visited that dictated "no flash" so I had to play with the settings on the camera to get the best shot I could - but some of them were so bad, I deleted them on the spot.

NOTE: The images are toned, hued and adjusted for the settings on MY monitor.  Your experience may vary slightly.  If you are having difficulty seeing images and they seem "washed out", you may need to turn down the brightness on your monitor.

If you want to look at a big picture, either:
- left-click on it, look and click the browser back button.
OR
- right-click on it and select Open in new tab / window.

UPDATE: This is a new slide-show presentation. It is worth reading through the entire site at least once, but all the pictures (but no videos and little text) are here.

This site doesn't have all the details, but a sufficient amount to give you enough of an idea about our trip.  And for us to remember the highlights when we read this next month, year or decade.
